About Erica Doenau:
Erica holds a Masters of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Exercise Science Degree, completed at Griffith University here on the Gold Coast. Erica trained as a ballet dancer for 13 years prior to completing her physiotherapy degree. Her sport provided the catalyst for an increasing interest in musculoskeletal injuries, after seeing multiple dancers injured at the start of their careers. With this background she understands the importance of injury management and prevention to get our clients back to their best performance.
Erica utilises both ‘hands on’ manual therapy as well as functional exercise-based approach to assessment and treatment. These can include treatments including soft tissue release, mobilisations, spinal manipulations, flexibility, strength, stability, proprioceptive and balance training. Erica uses a problem-solving approach alongside education to help plan the best possible individualised treatment.
Erica treats all conditions, however she has a special interest in ski injury and dancing en pointe injury management and prevention. Erica also has an interest in lower back pain and rehabilitation. Erica is clinical Pilates trained and uses these principles in designing programs for back pain sufferers to restore function and reduce pain, getting clients back to doing their normal activities quickly and efficiently.
Outside of work, Erica enjoys being at the beach, outdoor rock-climbing, music, and spending time with mates.
